Broadcom Offers Industry Leading Set-Top Box Solutions for China Showcasing New Levels of Integration, Performance and Functionality at 2008 CCBN
March 21-23, 2008 in Beijing, China, Booth #3501
Broadcom offers manufacturers a range of broadband communications and consumer electronics system-on-a-chip (SoC)
solutions that enable voice, video and data services over residential wired and wireless networks. These highly
integrated silicon solutions continue to enable the most advanced system solutions on the market, which include
digital cable, satellite and IP set-top boxes and media servers, broadband modems and residential gateways, high
definition and digital televisions, Blu-ray Disc® players, DVD recorders and personal video recorders and media
PC technology.
At 2008 CCBN (China Content Broadcasting Network), the world's largest exhibition of digital television (DTV) and
broadband networking services, Broadcom addresses the rapidly growing Chinese set-top box (STB) market with industry
leading system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions, that in turn, will provide Chinese viewers with a richer and higher quality

- High Definition Set-Top Boxes - Featured presentations include a highly integrated, high performance SoC solution
that bridges the gap from standard definition (SD) viewing to high definition (HD) viewing, while providing advanced
functionality such as personal video recording (PVR). It is anticipated that set-top boxes powered by this Broadcom
solution will soon be available to the Chinese market, in time for the high speed and action packed Olympic Games
upcoming this August in Beijing.
In support of China's new AVS set-top box specification, Broadcom will also present a SoC solution that advances
AVS support from standard definition viewing to high definition viewing. This advanced technology provides higher
performance and lower bill of materials cost due to its high integration, and will enable the rapid design and
deployment of AVS-supported HD set-top boxes in China.
- Convergence - Broadcom will also demonstrate a variety of broadband solutions designed using the company's field
proven and advanced 65 nanometer CMOS process technology. 65nm is the most advanced lithographic node for manufacturing
semiconductors in large volumes today and provides significant benefits over 90nm and 130nm processes by enabling lower
power consumption, smaller size and higher levels of integration.
- Partnerships - Broadcom also announces key collaborations and significant design wins with Coship Electronics and
Sunniwell on advanced set-top box applications based on Broadcom's new SoC solutions. Broadcom will continue working
closely with key industry partners to provide highly advanced products to the rapidly growing Chinese market, underlining
the company's strong commitment to this market and the growing business opportunities it presents.
