Job Requirements
  • Current student working toward BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • High academic standards (3.50/4.00 GPA or above)
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Familiarity with unit and system level testing
  • Experience working with PC's and computer networks
  • Other programming experience an asset

Job Description
The student would be a member of the SMTA team at Broadcom Canada. The SMTA team is responsible for testing Broadcom VOIP software products. Team members are involved with the development of software for our next generation class of VoIP products. Broadcom is the #1 worldwide silicon supplier for VoIP-enabled routers and terminal adapters (TAs). As part of the VoIP Residential Gateway team you will have an active role in the design, development and testing of firmware for DSL/Cable routers and Ethernet TAs. You will be implementing in the C/C++ programming language, new features in one or more of the following areas:

  • SIP and MGCP protocol client applications
  • Analog telephony, DECT and ISDN driver firmware
  • Linux/RTOS board support packages for Broadcom's SOC (System on a Chip) VoIP solution

You will be also responsible for assisting our customers (leading OEMs such as Cisco, Motorola, and Vonage) integrate the new features into their products and work with them from early testing to field deployments. If you are interested in learning about VoIP and Networking protocols, embedded real-time applications, have strong aspirations for independent and collaborative software development, and are excited about contributing to a world-class product, then this is the position for you.
